Non-Haar MRA on local fields of positive characteristic (Q499222)

The authors propose a method for constructing an MRA on the local field \(F^{(s)}\) of positive characteristic \(p\) based on the notion of an \((N,M)\)-elementary set which was introduced for the Vilenkin group \(G_p\) in [the first author, Izv. Math. 79, No. 1, 145--176 (2015; Zbl 1315.42024); translation from Izv. Ross. Akad. Nauk, Ser. Mat. 79, No. 1, 153--184 (2015)]. For the case \(p=s=2\), an example of a refinable step function that generate a non-Haar MRA is given.
