Means on commutative semigroups and nonlinear ergodic theorems (Q1073330)

This article deals with the study of the asymptotic behavior of orbits of a semigroup of nonexpanding mappings in a Banach space. The authors obtained a generalization of \textit{R. E. Bruck}'s theorem [Isr. J. Math. 32, 107-116 (1979; Zbl 0423.47024)], namely they found a sequence of means on the semigroup such that for each week neighbourhood of the set of common fixed points the corresponding mean vectors are contained in the given neighbourhood for sufficiently large numbers. Further they obtained a new nonlinear ergodic theorem that generalized simultaneously the ergodic theorem for a single mapping and the corresponding theorem for a nonlinear nonexpansive semigroup in a Banach space.
