Let \(\omega_1, \omega_2, \dots, \omega_d\) be linear functionals \((d\geq 1)\). The polynomial sequence \(\{P_n\}_{n\geq 0}\) is called \(d\)-orthogonal sequence with respect to \((\omega_1, \omega_2, \dots, \omega_d)\) if \[ \langle \omega_\alpha, P_mP_n \rangle=0,\;n\geq md+ \alpha, \quad \text{and} \quad \langle \omega_\alpha, P_mP_{md +\alpha-1} \rangle\neq 0, \] \(\alpha =1,2, \dots,d\) and \(m\geq 0\). The present paper is a sequel to the authors' earlier paper [Appl. Numer. Math. 24, No. 1, 23-53 (1997; Zbl 0881.33024)] wherein they investigated the interesting problem of determining all the \(d\)-orthogonal polynomial sequences \(\{P_n\}_{n\geq 0}\) such that \(P_n^{(1)} =P_n\), \(n=0,1 \dots\) where \(P_n^{(1)}\) is the associated polynomial sequence of \(\{P_n\}\). In this paper they investigate an analogous problem viz.: Find all \(d\)-orthogonal polynomial sequences \(\{P_n\}\) such that \(P_n^{(1)} =(n+1)^{-1} P_{n+1}'\), \(n\geq 0\). It is shown that the resulting polynomials are natural extensions of the classical Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. The particular case \(d=2\) of these polynomials has been studied in detail.
