An initial value problem for the linear wave equation in the presence of a real-valued potential \(V\), for the function \(u:\mathbb R\times \mathbb R^3\to \mathbb R\) is considered. Time-decay properties of solutions are investigated. A short review of known results is done first. Under some special assumptions on potential \(V\) and the Schrödinger operator, a dispersive estimate involving the Schrödinger operator and the spectral projection to the continuous spectrum is proved. Actually \(V\) is assumed to belong to the potential class \(K_o\), which is defined as the closure of bounded, compactly supported functions with respect to the global Kato norm. If additionally one assumes that the potential \(V\) belongs to the Lorentz space, a Strichartz type estimate for the solution of the considered initial value problem has been proved. The proof relies on techniques including Bernstein inequalities, the theory of Besov spaces associated with operators and a subordination formula, known as of Müller and Seeger, in harmonic analysis.
