In [Duke Math. J. 136, No.~2, 205--273 (2007; Zbl 1113.53032)], \textit{C. R. Lebrun} and \textit{L. J. Mason} studied neutral signature Zollfrei (i.e. the null geodesics are closed) self-dual conformal structures on \(S^2 \times S^2\) close to the standard flat product structure. They proved the existence of a one-to-one correspondence between such conformal structures and a type of embeddings of \(\mathbb{RP}^3\) in \(\mathbb{CP}^3\), hence arriving at a twistor construction for neutral conformal structures, in which points of \(S^2 \times S^2\) correspond to holomorphic disks in \(\mathbb{CP}^3\) whose boundary lies on the embedded \(\mathbb{RP}^3\). In the paper under review, the author conjectures a similar correspondence between space-like Zoll Einstein-Weyl structures on \(S^2\times \mathbb{R}\) and equivalence classes of totally real embeddings of \(\mathbb{CP}^1\) into \(\mathbb{CP}^1\times \mathbb{CP}^1\) (where \(z\mapsto (z,\bar z)\)). The main result of the paper shows how to obtain an Einstein-Weyl space from a given embedding. Moreover, the geometry of the constructed space is determined by the complex data of the embedding. The second direction of the correspondence still remains open.
