    Let \(D\) be a domain of \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(K\leq 1\) and \(\alpha\in(0,1)\). A mapping \(f:D\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^n\) is said to belong to the class \(A(K,\alpha)\) if \(\Lambda(f,x)\leq K\lambda(f,x)<\infty\) holds \(\forall x\in D\) and every \(y\) such that \(|x-y|\leq\alpha\delta_D(x)\), where \(\Lambda(f,x)=\displaystyle\overline{\lim_{y\rightarrow x}}\frac{|f(x)-f(y)|}{|x-y|}, \lambda (f,x)=\displaystyle\lim_{\overline{y\rightarrow x}}\frac{|f(x)-f(y)|}{|x-y|},\) and \(\delta _D(x)\) is Euclidean distance from \(x\) to the boundary \(\partial D\) of \(D\). The author establishes that a homeomorphism \(f:D\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^n\) is quasihyperbolic [cf. \textit{P. Tukia} and \textit{J. Väisälä}, Math. Ann. 269, 561-572 (1984; Zbl 0545.30013)] if there exist \(M\geq 1\) and \(\alpha\in(0,1)\) such that \(\Lambda(f,x)\leq M\lambda(f,x)\) holds \(\forall x\in D\) and \(\forall y\) with \(|x-y|\leq\alpha\delta _D(x)\). The author shows (theorem 2) also that \(f\in A=\bigcup A(K,\alpha)\), where the union is taken over all \(K\geq 1\) and \(\alpha\in(0,1)\), iff there exists a nondecreasing function \(\Phi:[0,\infty)\rightarrow[0,\infty)\) so that \(\Lambda (f,x)\leq\Phi[l_D(x,y)]\lambda (f,x)\) holds \(\forall x, y\in D,\) where \(l_D(x,y)=\displaystyle\inf\int_{\gamma}\frac{1}{\delta D(x)}ds\) and the infimum is taken over all rectifiable curves \(\gamma\) joining the points \(x\) and \(y\) in \(D\). Finally, he obtains a criterium for a continuous nondecreasing function and also for a locally \(K\)-quasiconformal mapping [cf. my paper in Rev. Roum. Math. Pures Appl. 12, 889-943 (1967; Zbl 0167.36201)] to belong to the class \(A\).
