    The author gives some explicit evaluations of multiple zeta-star values defined by \[ \zeta^ *(k_ 1,\ldots,k_ n) = \sum_ {m_ 1 \geq m_ 2 \geq \cdots \geq m_ n \geq 0}\;\dfrac{1}{m_ 1^ {k_ 1} \cdots m_ n^ {k_ n}}\,, \] which are rational multiple of powers of \(\pi^{2}\) and where \(k_ 1,\dots,k_ n \in \mathbb{N}\) with \(k_ 1\geq 2\). The following result is proved. Theorem A. If \(m\) and \(n\) are positive integers, then \[ \begin{multlined}\zeta^ *(2m,\ldots,2m)=\\ =\bigg\{\sum_{\substack{ n_ 0+\cdots+n_ {m-1}=mn\\ n_ i\geq0}} (-1)^ {m(n-1)}\;\prod^ {m-1}_ {k=0} \;\frac{(2^ {2n_ k}-2)B_ {2n_ k}}{(2n_ k)!}\times\exp \left( \frac{2\pi i}{m} \sum^ {m-1}_ { l=0} l n_ l\right) \bigg\}\pi^ {2mn}, \end{multlined} \] where there are \(2n\) \(2m\)'s in the argument of \(\zeta^ *\). Using the structure given by \textit{M. E. Hoffman} [J. Algebra 194, No. 2, 477--495 (1997; Zbl 0881.11067)] for studying \(\zeta(k_ 1,\ldots,k_ n)\) suitably modified to deal with the \(\zeta^ *\) sums, the following theorem is proved analogously. Theorem B. If \(n\) is a positive integer, then \[ \begin{multlined}\zeta^ * (3,1,\ldots,3,1)=\\ =\sum^ n_ {i=0} \bigg\{\dfrac{2}{(4i+2)!}\;\sum_{\substack{ n_ 0+n_ 1=2(n-i)\\ n_ 0,n_ 1\geq0}} (-1)^ {n_ 1}\;\dfrac{(2^ {2n_ 0}-2)B_ {2n_ 0}}{(2n_ 0)!} \times \dfrac{(2^ {2n_ 1}-2)B_ {2n_ 1}}{(2n_ 1)!} \bigg\} \pi^ {4n}, \end{multlined} \] where there are \(n\) pairs of \((3,1)\) in the argument of \(\zeta^ *\). Theorem C gives a result for the sum over all the \(\zeta^ *\) obtained from \(\zeta^ *(3,1,\ldots,3,1)\) by insertion of 2's into the string in all possible ways.
