A plane stress field in an unbounded transversely-isotropic elastic solid induced by a suddenly applied dislocation moving at transonic and supersonic speeds is analyzed, upon using a generalization of the method applied in author's paper in Acta Mech. 74, No.1-4, 35-49 (1988; Zbl 0672.73007). Treated in some detail are the \(\delta\)-function plane waves. It is shown that at a certain dislocation speed in the transonic range the head waves vanish. The results are applied to hexagonal crystals.
