Abstract: Let zetak be a k-th primitive root of unity, mgeqphi(k)+1 an integer and Phik(X)inmathbbZ[X] the k-th cyclotomic polynomial. In this paper we show that the pair (m+zetak, mathcalN) is a canonical number system, with mathcalN=0,1,dots,|Phik(m)|. Moreover we also discuss whether the two bases m+zetak and n+zetak are multiplicatively independent for positive integers m and n and k fixed.
