This paper is a sequel to two earlier articles [\textit{A. J. E. Ryba}, Contemp. Math. 193, 307--336 (1996; Zbl 1032.17048); Part II, \textit{R. E. Borcherds} and \textit{A. J. E. Ryba}, Duke Math. J. 83, No.2, 435-459 (1996; Zbl 1032.17049)]. These three papers investigate the \(p\)-modular behaviour of the monster vertex algebra. In this third part, the author proves the same result for the rest of the primes under certain assumptions using an argument similar to his proof of the moonshine conjecture of Conway-Norton and using a computer to find all solutions and finally showing that the cohomology groups vanish. The author, among others, states the following conjecture: For each element \(g\) of order \(n\) of the monster, there is a \((1/n) \mathbb{Z}\)-graded super module \(^gV\) over the ring \(\mathbb{Z}[e^{2\pi i/n}]\). He also gives several additional conjectures concerning properties \(^gV\) should satisfy. At the end he poses a few questions i.e. about the full automorphism group of the modular vertex algebra \(^gV\).
