The authors extend Lempert's (global) results on extremal maps on strongly convex domains to the following two (local) settings: 1) near the boundary of a bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain of class \(C^k\), \(k\ge 3\); 2) near a strongly pseudoconvex boundary point of a worm domain. A key ingredient of the proof is to ``expose'' the boundary point, to be tangent to the unit ball. Such an exposing result for strongly pseudoconvex domains was obtained in [\textit{K. Diederich} et al., J. Geom. Anal. 24, No. 4, 2124--2134 (2014; Zbl 1312.32006)]. For worm domains, the authors prove an exposing result in sections 3-5. Another key ingredient of the proof is a local ``proper embedding'' result (Theorem 2.6). The proof of this result uses the ideas of the well-known Fornæss embedding theorem.
