Lower bounds on waiting times for degenerate parabolic equations and systems (Q2496513)

The authors extend the results from [Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa, Cl. Sci., IV. Ser. 30, No. 2, 437--463 (2001; Zbl 1024.35051)] in obtaining quantitative estimates of the waiting times for free boundary problems associated with degenerate parabolic equations and systems. In particular, the approach employed covers the thin-film equations, second- and higher order (doubly) degenerate equations, as well as systems of semiconductor equations.
