Let \(C\) be an irreducible curve of degree \(d\) in the projective plane \(\mathbb{P}^2(k)\) over an algebraically closed field \(k\), \(K=k(C)\) be the function field of \(C\). A point \(P\in C\) is called Galois point if the field extension \(K/K_P\) induced by the projection of \(C\) from \(P\) to \(\mathbb{P}^1\) is a Galois extension. \textit{H. Yoshihara} [J. Algebra 239, 340--355 (2001; Zbl 1064.14023)] described the Galois points of a nonsingular plane curve of degree \(d\geq 4\) in terms of its defining equation. \textit{K. Miura} [Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 62, 193--204 (2000; Zbl 0986.14016)] studied the Galois points of a singular plane quartic. The author studies the case where \(C\) is a quintic of genus \(g\) having only one singular double point \(P\). For such \(C\) and \(P\) he proves that if \(g=0\) or 3, then \(P\) cannot be a Galois point. In the other cases (i.e. \(g=1,2,4,5\)) the author gives necessary and sufficient condition for \(P\) to be a Galois point in terms of defining equation of \(C\). As a corollary of obtained result, the author determines when the Galois group \(\text{Gal}(K/K_P)\) is contained in \(\text{PGL}(3,k)\). The proof investigates the possible cases of \(g\) and is based on the Riemann-Roch theorem and on the elimination theory.
