The final aim of this paper is to construct examples of translation invariant continuous valuations on the space of compact convex subsets of the quaternionic space \({\mathbb H}^n\). In a former paper [Adv. Math. 155, 239--263 (2000; Zbl 0971.52004)], the author has considered valuations with the same properties on convex bodies in a Euclidean space \({\mathbb R}^n\) which are invariant under a compact subgroup \(G\) of the orthogonal group \(O(n)\), where \(G\) acts transitively on the unit sphere. He has shown that the vector space of these valuations has finite dimension (for \(G=O(n)\) or \(SO(n)\), it has dimension \(n+1\), by Hadwiger's celebrated theorem). For the case of \(U(n)\) and the space \({\mathbb C}^n\), the author has classified the corresponding valuations and has determined the dimension of the space they span [J. Differ. Geom. 63, 63--95 (2003; Zbl 1073.52004)]. The present paper leads to examples of invariant valuations for the case \(G= Sp(n)Sp(1)\). The way to this new construction requires the author's theory of plurisubharmonic functions of quaternionic variables [Bull. Sci. Math. 127, 1--35 (2003; Zbl 1033.15013); J. Geom. Anal. 13, 183--216 (2003; Zbl 1058.32028)]. On the way, the author extends his former theory. For example, for a right quaternionic \({\mathbb H}\)-module \(V\) of finite dimension he constructs a graded algebra \(\Omega^*(V)\), analogous to the graded algebra of exterior forms of type \((p,p)\) on a complex space, and he proves some related results.
