Let \(X\) be an irreducible complete immersed curved in the projective \(n\)- dimensional space (other than a line), and denote by \(X'\) the curve in the grassmannian of lines which is the closure of the image of \(X\) under the Gauss map (defined by the embedded tangents to \(X\) at general points). If the characteristic of the ground field is zero, then \(X\) is uniquely determined by \(X'\). The author shows that if \(X_ 1 \neq X_ 2\) and \(X_ 1' = X_ 2'\), then one of the following cases occurs: (a) both \(X_ 1\) and \(X_ 2\) are rational or supersingular elliptic, and at least one of them is not reflexive; (b) both \(X_ 1\) and \(X_ 2\) are ordinary elliptic and non-reflexive.
