    A continuous, nondecreasing, concave function \(\psi\) on \([0, 2\pi]\) with \(\psi (0) =0\) determines the quasinormed Lorentz space \(\Lambda_{\psi, q}\) \((0< q< \infty)\) of \(2\pi\)-periodic measurable functions. If \(\psi (t)= t^{1/q}\), \(q>1\), then \(\Lambda_{\psi, q}= L_q\). Associated with each of \(f\in \Lambda_{\psi, q}\) is a modulus of continuity and those \(f\) whose moduli of continuity are dominated near 0 by a fixed modulus of continuity \(\omega\) constitute the space \(H^\omega_{\psi, q}\). Given a sequence \(\lambda= (\lambda_n)\) of positive numbers decreasing to 0, \(E_{\psi, q} (\lambda)\) consists of those \(f\) in \(\Lambda_{\psi, q}\) for which \(\inf|f-T_n |_{\psi, q}= O(\lambda_n)\) where the infimum is over trigonometric polynomials \(T_n\) of degree at most \(n-1\). Necessary and sufficient conditions are given under which \(H^\omega_{\psi, q_1} \subset E_{\psi_2, q_2} (\lambda)\).
