An artificial damping algorithm for solving the Helmholtz equation is considered when the imaginary part of the wave number is small. The artificial damping algorithm can be viewed as a rational iteration. Each damped problem is solved incompletely by a nonoverlapping domain decomposition method. Numerical tests on nCUBE2 are presented.
