The present paper is devoted to the verification of Dade's conjecture for the O'Nan sporadic simple group. The proof involves extensive calculations of detailed properties of local subgroups of the group. An independent proof of this result is given by \textit{J. An} and \textit{E. A. O'Brien} [Commun. Algebra 30, No. 3, 1305-1348 (2002; see the review Zbl 1009.20016 above)].
