This interesting paper contains a continuation of the earlier research of holomorphic self-mappings defined on the open unit ball B of a complex Hilbert space H. These investigations were initiated by the paper of the first author, \textit{T. Sȩkowski} and \textit{A. Stachura} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 4, 1011-1021 (1980; Zbl 0448.47048)] where they have shown that several ideas and results from the theory of nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces can be used to obtain results concerning holomorphic self-mappings of B. In this paper the authors proved that if \(F:B\to B\) is a so-called firmly holomorphic mapping \(then:\) 1\({}^ o\) if \(Fix F\neq \emptyset\) then the sequence of iterates \(\{F^ nx\}\) converges weakly to a fixed point of F for any \(x\in B\), \(2^ o\) if \(Fix F=\emptyset\) then \(\{F^ nx\}\) converges strongly to a point on the boundary of B being independent of x. Some other results are also established. Reviewer's remark: The readers more interested in the above mentioned theory are referred to the book ''Uniform convexity, hyperbolic geometry, and nonexpansive mappings'' (1984; Zbl 0537.46001) written by the authors of the reviewed paper.
