Using the less problematic approach of interpolating quasi-norms rather than quasi-normed spaces, this paper establishes the quasi-norm inequality corresponding to the inclusion: \[ (A_ 0,A_ 1)_{\theta,q}\subset [(A_ 0,A_ 1)_{\theta_ 0,q_ 1},\quad (A_ 0,A_ 1)_{\theta_ 0,q_ 1}]_{\lambda} \] for quasi-Banach spaces, for appropriate values of the indices. The reverse inclusion/inequality is also obtained assuming additional hypotheses on the spaces. (It cannot hold in general in view of a counterexample presented more recently by \textit{A. Tabacco}.) These results provide a convenient and unified approach to the identification of a large class of complex interpolation spaces, including notably those generated by various types of \(H_ p\) spaces. (As remarked in a forthcoming paper by the first and third authors, it is in fact possible to prove Theorem 3 of the present paper without recourse to Gagliardo completions.)
