Let K be a category with a faithful functor \(| \quad |: K\to H\) and F a covariant endofunctor of K with a natural transformation \(\eta\) : \(1_ K\to F\), which is called a functor close to a reflector. Then the authors show that F preserves finite products if K has some algebraic structure and \(| \eta |\) has some epi-property. For non-algebraic structures a weak version of preservation is given. They prove these results by using the categorical properties involved and give wide applications to many situations, e.g., the following cases are contained; reflectors F from the category STopSGrp of all semi-topological semigroups into the subcategory of all compact topological semigroups or of all compact topological groups, and covariant endofunctors F of the category K of all topological vector spaces with values in the full subcategory of Hausdorff spaces and for which there is a dense- transformation \(\eta\) : \(1_ K\to F\). Results concerning infinite products are also given for the cases where H is some special category like Top, STopSGrp.
