This paper concerns the search for structures that are similar to buildings. A GAB is a group that is almost a building [the author, J. Algebra 92, 208-223 (1985; Zbl 0562.51006)]; here a GAB is constructed from the affine building for \(\Omega\) \(+(6,{\mathbb{Q}}_ 2)\). A generalization of a GAB is a SCAB, that is a chamber system that is almost a building. Several examples are discussed in which the diagram is the complete graph \(K_ n\) and each edge corresponds to PG(2,q). For a survey, see the author's article in Lect. Notes Math. 1181, 79-158 (1986; Zbl 0599.51015).
