The author deals with factorizations into irreducibles in semigroups with divisor theory, of which the classical example is the multiplicative semigroup of integers in an algebraic number field. Assuming that every divisor class contains at least one prime divisor the author characterizes finite cyclic class groups (as well as some other groups) in terms of certain factorization properties.
