Suppose that \(X\) is a compact, connected LOTS such that for each pair \(a,b\in X\) with \(a<b\) there is a non-trivial order-preserving homeomorphism. Then for both the group of order-preserving homeomorphisms of \(X\) and the group of all homeomorphisms the Zariski, Markov and compact-open topologies all agree. It follows that the compact-open topology is the smallest Hausdorff group topology in this case. A number of related questions are raised.
