On non-axisymmetric buckling modes of inhomogeneous circular plates (Q2047527)

The appearance and stability of asymmetric equilibrium modes of inhomogeneous circular plates with an elastically clamped edge are discussed. Plates are subjected to a normal pressure. The asymmetric components of the solutions are periodic. The numerical method is used to determine the lowest load, at which a bifurcation occurs. The influence of the degree of material inhomogeneity and also the clamped edge conditions on the critical load and the buckling mode is investigated. The influence of an increase or decrease in the elastic modulus of the plate toward its edge is also investigated.
