The authors consider a simple birth-death-immigration process influenced by total catastrophes which, when they occur, reduce the population size to zero. The process has linear birth rate \(\lambda\), linear death rate \(\mu\), immigration rate \(\alpha\) and rate for the occurrence of the catastrophe \(\gamma\). The partial differential equation for the process is derived and solved for the three cases (\(\lambda\neq \mu\) and \(\lambda\neq 0\)), (\(\lambda=\mu\) and \(\lambda\neq 0\)) and (\(\lambda=0\) and \(\mu\neq 0\)). The extinction probabilities are derived for these three cases.
