The paper deals with the mapping properties of the Cauchy singular integral operator on a real segment with constant coefficients. As it is well-known, the Cauchy singular integral operators are the main parts of the Cauchy singular integral equations. The Cauchy singular integral operator is studied in a scale of the pair of the weighted Besov spaces equipped with weighted uniform norms. Recently weighted Besov type spaces got more and more interest in approximation theory and, in particular, in the numerical analysis of polynomial approximation methods for Cauchy singular integral equations. The authors derive conditions that provide the boundedness and invertibility of the Cauchy singular integral operator. Such result was not expected for a long time and it will affect further investigations. The suggested approach is based on properties of the de la Vallée Poussin operator constructed with respect to some Jacobi polynomials.
