A framed manifold \((X,C)\) consists of a compact complex manifold \(X\) together with a smooth divisor \(C\). Let \(X^{'}=X\backslash C\). Then \( X^{'}\)possesses a uniquely determined complete Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega _{X^{'}}\) of constant negative Ricci curvature \(-1\). In this paper the author studies the asymptotic behavior of this metric. If \( K_X+[ C] \mid C=K_C>0,\) then exists also a Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega _C\) on \(C\) (with Ricci curvature \(-1\)). A canonical section \( \sigma \) of \([ C]\) in the use of a local coordinate function on \(X\). Theorem 1. The Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega _{X^{'}}\) converges to the Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega _C,\) when restricted to directions parallel to \(C\). Theorem 2. There exists a number \(0<\alpha \leq 1\) such that for all \(k\in \mathbb {N}\) and all \(0<\lambda <1\) the volume form of the complete Kähler-Einstein metric is of the form \(\frac{2\widetilde{\Omega }}{\| \sigma \| ^2\lg ^2(\frac 1{\| \sigma \| ^2})}(1+\frac \nu {\lg ^\alpha (\frac 1{\| \sigma \| ^2})})\) with \(\nu \in C^{k,\lambda }(X^{'})\). Theorem 3. Let \((X,C)\) and \((Y,D)\) be canonically polarized with \(C\) and \(D\) ample. Then any biholomorphic map \(f:X\backslash C\to Y\backslash D\) possesses a unique biholomorphic extension \(F:X\to Y\). More generally: Any proper, unbranched covering \(f:X\backslash C\to Y\backslash D\) possesses a holomorphic extension. Moreover, the author computes the asymptotics of the curvature tensor of a complete Kähler metric on \(X\backslash C\) as above and shows that the sectional and Ricci curvatures are bounded from above by a negative constant.
