Tldr We develop a convergence theory for geometric multigrid with vertex-patch smoothers applied to cut finite element discretizations of the Poisson problem using the discrete extension property, and prove two-level bounds uniform in mesh size and cut geometry; we also show numerical experiments that demonstrate improvement with ghost penalty and aligned model.
