A note on \(k\)-wise oddtown problems

Abstract: For integers 2leqtleqk, we consider a collection of k set families mathcalAj:1leqjleqk where mathcalAj=Aj,isubseteq[n]:1leqileqm and |A1,i1capcdotscapAk,ik| is even if and only if at least t of the ij are distinct. In this paper, we prove that m=O(n1/lfloork/2floor) when t=k and m=O(n1/(t−1)) when 2t−2leqk and prove that both of these bounds are best possible. Specializing to the case where mathcalA=mathcalA1=cdots=mathcalAk, we recover a variation of the classical oddtown problem.
