BPS invariants from $p$-adic integrals

Abstract: We define p-adic BPS or pBPS-invariants for moduli spaces of 1-dimensional sheaves on del Pezzo surfaces by means of integration over a non-archimedean local field F . Our definition relies on a canonical measure mucan on the F-analytic manifold associated to and the pBPS-invariants are integrals of natural mathbbGm-gerbes with respect to mucan. A similar construction can be done for meromorphic Higgs bundles on a curve. The relation to BPS-invariants is given by proving a chi-independence result for pBPS-invariants and then appealing to an analogous result of Maulik-Shen. We also explain how to extend our results to sheaves on K3 surfaces and usual Higgs bundles, where chi-independence for BPS-invariants is still a conjecture in general.
