Contains two separate datasets: Global GFED-based monthly burned area (in ha) time series (1996-2016) at 1 km (downscaled using cubic-splines from 25 km); Global burned area long term (2000-2012) P90 (quantile probability = 0.9) based on the ESA CCI burned area accumulated weekly product; Original GFED monthly data is provided as HDF4 files (ftp.fuoco.geog.umd.edu/data/GFED/GFED4). Dataset is described in detail in Giglio et al. (2013). Processing steps are available here. Antarctica is not included.
