This repository contains the dataset and accompanying tools used in the study "Air Entrainment and Gas Transfer Processes in Wave Breaking Events", available on arXiv (DOI: 10.48550/arXiv.2412.20576). The study investigates gas transfer processes at the air-water interface during wave breaking events using high-fidelity numerical simulations. It focuses on regular wave patterns, mild spilling, and intense plunging breaking waves, emphasizing air entrainment and energy dissipation. Contents Raw Data: Global raw output files (channel_*_*.out) generated from six numerical simulations. README.txt: Documentation describing the raw data structure. Fortran Processing Script (process_modified.f90): A program that processes the raw data to generate .datfiles. Processed Data: .dat files generated by the Fortran script, ready for analysis and visualization. Visualization Files: Gnuplot scripts (.gnu) used to create the figures presented in the paper. Videos: Two videos (.mp4) from a simulation with a Reynolds number Re=4.E4 and initial steepness ϵ=0.50, showing the air-water interface dynamics and the gas concentration map. Format and Tools Raw data: Plain text files (.out). Processed data: .dat format for compatibility with common analysis tools. Visualization: Gnuplot scripts for reproducing figures. Videos: videos in MP4 format. Usage The dataset supports: Reproducing the results in the associated paper. Exploring gas transfer phenomena in multiphase flow simulations. Educational purposes in fluid mechanics and climate-related research.
