Description

The dataset is a collection of the data presented in the paper "Stereo-PIV measurements within the canopy in open-channel flows". The first part of the filenames identify the experiments presented in Table 1 and Table 2 of the cited work. The second part specifies whether the data were acquired with a stereo or planar PIV system (sPIV or pPIV, respectively) or whether a boat was used or not (B or NB, respectively). Each datafile corresponds to one PIV measurement acquired during the corresponding experiment mentioned in the filename. The velocity fields are measured in a streamwise, wall-normal plane as shown in Figure 1 of the cited work. Each datafile contains the following variables: a time vector "T" with the sampling times of the velocity fields a vector "x" (unit cm) identifying the streamwise position of the velocity vectors. The origin of the x-coordinate is located at the edge of the boat (see Figure 1) a vector "z" (unit cm) identifying the vertical position of the velocity vectors. The origin of the z-corrdinate is located at the top of the spheres forming the bed roughness (see Figure 1) a matrix "u" containing the fields of the streamwise velocity component - unit cm/s a matrix "w" containing the fields of the vertical velocity component - unit cm/s a matrix "v" containing the fields of the transverse (y) velocity component (only present for data collected with stereo PIV) - unit cm/s
