Dissipative Control of Linear Time-Delay Systems: Full State Feedback

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: The problem of stabilizing autonomous linear delay systems with dissipative constraints remains unresolved when considering an unlimited number of pointwise and general distributed delays (DDs). Existing solutions are hindered by theoretical limitations, numerical obstacles, or an inability to handle the complexities of DD kernels. We present an effective methodology as an initial step towards addressing this unresolved issue for the case of dissipative full-state feedback using the Krasovskiu{i} functional (KF) approach, where all DDs can contain any number of square-integrable functions. To overcome the difficulties presented by the infinite dimensionality of DDs, we introduce an equivalent decomposition-approximation technique that allows for the factorization or approximation (least-square) of any DD kernel without introducing conservatism. This approach enables us to effectively construct a complete-type KF with integral kernels that can include any number of differentiable (weak derivatives) and linearly independent functions, supported by the utilization of a novel integral inequalities derived from the least-squares principle. The proposed synthesis solution comprises two theorems accompanied by an iterative algorithm, which can be utilized as a single package to compute controller gains without requiring nonlinear solvers. A challenging numerical example, which cannot be addressed by existing methods, show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
