Explicit bounds for sums of squares
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: For an even integer , let be the number of representations of as a sum of squares. The quantity is appoximated by the classical singular series . Deligne's bound on the Fourier coefficients of Hecke eigenforms gives that . We determine the optimal implied constant in this estimate provided that either or is odd. The proof requires a delicate positivity argument involving Petersson inner products.
