Filtrations and Growth of $\mathbb G$-modules

Abstract: We investigate rational representations (mathbbG-modules) of affine group schemes mathbbG over a field of positive characteristic p. For any subspace XsubsetmathcalO(mathbbG), we consider the abelian subcategory Mod(mathbbG,X)subsetMod(mathbbG) of ``X-comodules" and the left exact functor (−)X:Mod(mathbbG)oMod(mathbbG,X) which is right adjoint to the inclusion functor. We employ ``ascending converging sequences" Xi of subspaces of mathcalO(mathbbG) to provide functorial filtrations MXi of each mathbbG-module M. For any subspace XsubsetmathcalO(mathbbG), Mod(mathbbG,X)subsetMod(mathbbG) is naturally identified with the category CoMod(mathcalO(mathbbG)X) of comodules for the coalgebra mathcalO(mathbbG)XsubsetX. This construction gives a corrected version of the filtration of exponential degree for a linear algebraic group of exponential type. We provide two types of ascending, converging sequences of finite dimensional sub-coalgebras for an arbitrary affine group scheme, one is a generalization to all affine group schemes of Jantzen's truncated subcategories for reductive algebraic groups and the other is a generalization to all affine group schemes of the grading of polynomial functions for classical groups. Any ascending converging sequence Xi of subspaces of mathcalO(mathbbG) provides a test for injectivity for mathbbG-modules. When each Xi is a sub-coalgebra of mathcalO(mathbbG), Xi determine a filtration of Hochschild cohomology. The subcategories CoHt(mathbbG)subsetMod(mathbbG),CoFin(mathbbG)subsetMod(mathbbG) of mathbbG-modules of finite coheight and of cofinite mathbbG-modules do not depend upon the choice of Xi provided that each Xi finite dimensional.
