Forms of the generic norm of a separable Jordan algebra

From MaRDI portal

Let \(\Phi\) be an infinite field, and let \({\bar \Phi}\) be its algebraic closure. Let \(\bar J\) be a finite-dimensional separable quadratic Jordan algebra over \({\bar \Phi}\) with generic norm \(\bar N\) and unit 1. Let J be a \(\Phi\)-subspace of \(\bar J\) such that \(\bar J={\bar \Phi} J\cong {\bar \Phi} \otimes_{\Phi} J\), \=N(J)\(\subset \Phi\), and 1\(\in J\). Then J is a \(\Phi\)-subalgebra of \(\bar J\). If the hypothesis that 1\(\in J\) is omitted, then J is a \(\Phi\)-subalgebra of an isotope of \(\bar J\). The structure of such an algebra J is determined by the structure of \(\bar J\).
