Description

This equation computes the heat unit factor as a sigmoid function of the heat unit index. The heat unit factor represents normalized crop developmental progress from emergence to maturity. Its functional form ensures slow development during early and late stages and more rapid change during intermediate stages. Crop-specific parameters determine the shape of the sigmoid relationship and are calibrated using predefined pairs of heat unit index and heat unit factor values.
