Interpolation of Cesàro sequence and function spaces

Abstract: The interpolation property of Ces{`a}ro sequence and function spaces is investigated. It is shown that

C e s_{p} (I)

is an interpolation space between

C e s_{p_{0}} (I)

and

C e s_{p_{1}} (I)

for

1 < p_{0} < p_{1} l e q i n f t y

and

1 / p = (1 - h e t a) / p_{0} + h e t a / p_{1}

with

0 < h e t a < 1

, where

I = [0, i n f t y)

or

[0, 1]

. The same result is true for Ces{`a}ro sequence spaces. On the other hand,

C e s_{p} [0, 1]

is not an interpolation space between

C e s_{1} [0, 1]

and

C e s_{i n f t y} [0, 1]

.
