Let S be the space of all sequences \(a=\{a_ n\}_ 1^{\infty}\). For p,q\(\in R\), the operators \(L_ p\) and \(L_{pq}\) are defined on S by \(L_ p(a_ n)=a_ n-pa_{n+1}\) and \(L_{pq}(a_ n)=L_ p(a_ n)- qL_ p(a_{n+1}).\) The following is proved: Let \(L_{pq}(a_ n)\geq 0\) and \(0\leq a_ n\leq 1\), then \[ 0\leq L_ n(a_ n)\leq n(\sum^{n}_{k=1}(p^ k-q^ k)/(p-q))^{-1}. \] This statement generalizes the known result ''Every bounded and convex sequence is non- increasing'' having an important application to Fourier analysis.
