    A finite primitive permutation group G acting on a set X is called of simple diagonal type if there is only one minimal normal subgroup M in G, M is nonabelian and nonsimple and any maximal normal subgroup of M is regular on X, hence \(M_ x\) is a simple full diagonal subgroup of M, \(x\in X\). It is proved that two abstractly isomorphic primitive groups of simple diagonal type are permutationally isomorphic if their point stabilizers are isomorphic as abstract groups. In addition, the set of all permutational isomorphism classes of those primitive groups of simple diagonal type whose minimal normal subgroups are isomorphic to a cartesian power \(T^ m\) of a nonabelian simple group T is parametrized by conjugacy classes of certain subgroups of Sym(m)\(\times Out T\).
