This paper deals with the obstacle problem in the case of a limiting Sobolev exponent. The problem is: find \[ u\in K=\{v\in H^ 1_ 0(\Omega),\quad v\geq 0,\quad v\leq \psi \quad in\quad C\subset \Omega \subset R^ n,\quad n\geq 3\} \] such that \[ \int_{\Omega}\nabla u\nabla (v-u)dx\geq \int_{\Omega}u^{(n+2)/(n-2)} (v-u)dx\quad \forall v\in K. \] Using an intricate analysis based on the work of Coron and Bahri for the corresponding Dirichlet problem, the authors prove under some additional assumptions on \(\Omega\)-C, that there exist a nontrivial solution. Moreover they were able to establish the continuity of this solution.
