Quantum dynamical semigroups (q.d.s.) arise in the study of irreversible evolutions in quantum mechanics and as a quantum analogue of classical Markov semigroups in quantum probability. For many cases the infinitesimal generator \(\mathbb L\) can be formally written as \[ \mathbb L(X)=i[H,X]- \tfrac{1}{2}XM+\sum_{l=1}^\infty L_l^*XL_l- \tfrac{1}{2}MX, \] where \( M=\sum_{l=1}^\infty L_l^*L_l \) and \(H\) is a symmetric operator satisfying some conditions. Necessary and sufficient conditions for conservativity of q.d.s. were in particular obtained by \textit{A. M. Chebotarev} [Theor. Math. Phys. 80, No. 2, 804--818 (1989; Zbl 0694.47022)] and improved later by \textit{A. M. Chebotarev} [Math. Notes 52, No. 4, 1067--1077 (1992; Zbl 0820.47040)], \textit{A. M. Chebotarev} and \textit{F. Fagnola} [J. Funct. Anal. 118, No. 1, 131--153 (1993; Zbl 0801.46083)]. The sufficient conditions can be written formally as follows \[ i[H,M]\leq bM, \mathbb L(M)\leq bM, \] where \(b\) is a constant. These results are improved in the article in two aspects: (1) the second inequality is assumed only for some selfadjoint operator \(C\) bounded from below by \(M\), (2) the operators \(L_l\) need not to be closed or even closable, as well as the form represented by the operator \(-M-2iH\). The new simple proof is based on a priori bounds for the resolvent of the minimal q.d.s. The results obtained are applied to three particular q.d.s. including a model of physical evolution and Brownian motion.
