Given a compatible proximity \(\delta\) on a \(T_1\) space \((X, \tau)\) one can construct a hit-and-miss proximal hypertopology on \(\text{CL}(X)\). This is a generalization of the classical Vietoris hypertopology. In recent years there has been a lot of activity in this area, primarily when \(\tau, \delta\) arise from a metric \(d\). In addition, work has been done with consideration of bounded sets, balls, Urysohn families etc. [\textit{G. Beer}, Topologies on closed and closed convex sets, Math. Appl., Dordr. 268 (1993; Zbl 0792.54008)]. In this paper the authors use the theory of ``approach spaces'' and generalize and improve several known results in the context of a metric space.
