The authors presented the ``displacement-potential'' boundary integral formulation for a general three-dimensional piezoelectro-elastic problem. They obtained two-dimensional fundamental solution in closed form by using integral transform method. They showed that by proceeding with the usual boundary element formalism, a matrix representation of the boundary integral equation can be obtained and readily implemented in a computer code. This formulation makes it possible to analyze the electro-elastic interaction in piezoelectric materials for problems with more involved geometry. This work is a straightforward application of the boundary integral formulation to a problem in a linear piezoelectricity, and nothing new.
