Let \(f\in L^ p (\mathbb{R})\), \(1\leq p<\infty\) and denote as usual by \(\widehat {f}\) and \(\widetilde {f}\) its Fourier transform and its Hilbert transform, respectively. The paper investigates the relation between the degree of strong approximation of order \(p\) of \(f\) and of \(\widetilde {f}\), by means of their Dirichlet integrals, \(s_ \nu (f,t)\) and \(\widetilde {s}_ \nu (f,t)\). Among the results, Theorem: If \(\ell\in L^ p\cap L^ \lambda\) for some \(1<p <\infty\) and \(1< \lambda< \infty\), then for \(0< \alpha\leq \min(1/p, 1/q)\) where \(1/p+ 1/q=1\), we have \[ \gamma_ 1 (f,t):= \Biggl( \int_ 0^ \infty | \nu^ \alpha [s_ \nu (f,t)- f(t)] |^ p {{d\nu} \over \nu} \Biggr)^{1/p} \in L^ \lambda, \] if and only if \[ I(f,t):= \Biggl( \int_ 0^ \infty \biggl| {{f(t+u)- f(t-u)} \over {u^ \alpha}} \biggr|^ p {{du} \over u} \Biggr)^{1/p}\in L^ \lambda. \]
