This is an investigation of the stability of a large scale integrodifferential system, based on a decomposition-aggregation method, i.e., the system is divided into a number of \(L^ 2\)-stable subsystems with a dominant stable ordinary differential equation (ODE) part, and with ``weak'' interconnections. The whole system is proved to be stable under assumptions that roughly mean that the interconnections are weak enough, so that they do not disturb the stability of the separate ODE's. The proof is based on the construction of a Lyapunov functional for the whole system, starting from the natural Lyapunov functions for the separate ODE's. Several different types of stability are discussed, i.e. uniform and nonuniform stability and asymptotic stability. Some related results are found in the reviewer's article in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 19, No. 4, 879-901 (1988; Zbl 0651.45003).
