The author studies the de Rham cohomology of complements \(\mathbb{P}^2\setminus D\), where \(D\) is a divisor with reducible support \(\bigcup_{i=1}^nC_i\). \textit{P. A. Griffiths} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 76, 228--296 (1970; Zbl 0214.19802)] showed in the general case of a divisor in \(\mathbb{P}^m\) that every cohomology class on \(H^m(\mathbb{P}^m\setminus D)\) can be represented by a form with a pole of at most order \(m\) along \(D\), relating the pole filtration to the Hodge filtration on \(H^{m-1}(D)\) by the residue map. Here, this problem is investigated in more detail for the two-dimensional case. The main result is the following. Theorem. Let \(C_1,\dots,C_n\) be \(n\) curves in \(\mathbb{P}^2\) defined by the irreducible polynomials \(f_1=0,\dots,f_n=0\). Then \(H^2(\mathbb{P}^2\setminus \bigcup_{i=1}^nC_i)\) is generated by the forms \[ {P\Omega\over f_{i_1}f_{i_2}f_{i_3}},\quad 1\leq i_1,i_2,i_3\leq n, \] where \(\Omega\) is the contraction of the volume form on the affine space \(\mathbb{A}^3\) by the Euler vector field.
