Let \(L\) be a finite dimensional Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field. \(L\) is said to be centralizer nilpotent if for each \(0 \neq x \in L\), the centralizer of \(x\) is nilpotent. For \(x \in L\), the Fitting null-component of ad \(x\) in \(L\) is called the Engel subalgebra \(E_L (x)\) of \(L\) determined by \(x\). If each proper Engel subalgebra \(E_L (x)\) of \(L\) has no ad-nilpotent elements of \(L\), \(L\) is said to be Engel subalgebraically anisotropic. The author proves that \(L\) is Engel subalgebraically anisotropic if and only if \(L\) is centralizer nilpotent.
